Gear pump units in special design

Not every task can be solved with a standard pump. Based on our product lines, Linn-Pumpen supplies gear pumps in special designs: without dynamic shaft seal with magnetic coupling, speed-controlled with frequency converter, with a gear motor for viscous media, running slowly or as a service pump.

Which variant is suitable depends on the medium, viscosity at operating temperature, flow rate, pressure and installation situation. The versions with magnetic coupling, frequency converter, gear motor and overflow valve are equipment of the same modular system: within the respective pump base, additional components include the construction and motor design as well as equipment, for example MG for the magnetic coupling in the FOM construction type, i for the frequency converter directly behind the construction type and G for the gear motor as a prefix. Only the LZ and LZGM series are outside this modular system; LZ without drive and LZGM with drive.

Without end seal: FOM MG version with magnetic coupling

Gear pumps with magnetic coupling operate without a dynamic shaft seal; the torque is transmitted without contact. The pump chamber is therefore hermetically sealed to the outside. The design is based on a grey cast iron pump; for aggressive or corrosive media, we recommend a Stainless steel version. Flow rate 0.6 to 124 l/min at 1,450 min-1, viscosity 1.4 to 2,500 mm²/s, power 0.25 to 18.5 kW. More information Gear pump with magnetic coupling.

When is a gear pump with magnetic coupling useful?

A gear pump with magnetic coupling operates without a dynamic shaft seal. The torque is transmitted without contact via magnets through a split cup, making the pump hermetically sealed to the outside. This design is useful for media where even small amounts of leakage are critical, for example in heat transfer oils or odor-intensive media. For aggressive or corrosive media, a stainless steel version is tested for material resistance.

Speed-controlled: i version with frequency converter

Gear pumps deliver volumetric flow; the flow rate is directly proportional to the rotational speed. A frequency converter allows the volume flow to be adjusted continuously without throttling or bypass. Typical for dosing and in circulating systems with variable demand. Up to 124 l/min at 1,450 rpm, up to approximately 148 l/min at 60 Hz, power 0.25 to 18.5 kW.

How can the flow rate of a gear pump be controlled?

Gear pumps deliver volumetric flow; the flow rate is directly proportional to the rotational speed. Therefore, the volume flow can be adjusted continuously to the process via a frequency converter without throttling or bypass. The i version is designed for this and can deliver up to 124 l/min at 1,450 rpm, operating at 60 Hz up to approximately 148 l/min at 0.25 to 18.5 kW.

For tough media: Gear motor version G

For high viscosities of approximately 2,500 to 20,000 mm²/s, gear motor versions are used, denoted as G/FKM or G/FOM. The flow rate depends on the pump size and the selected output rotational speed; it cannot be specified as a general range. By default, we use motor outputs of 0.55 kW; smaller outputs are available as special versions.

Which gear pump is suitable for highly viscous media?

As the viscosity increases, the rotational speed must be reduced so that the conveying chambers can fill completely. For this purpose, a geared motor is used. The G gear motor version is designed for viscosities of 2,500 to 20,000 mm²/s.

Slowly running: Building series LZ and LZGM

Slow-running gear pumps operate at reduced speed. This improves filling of the tooth gaps in viscous media and can reduce the mechanical load on the pump. 42 to 128 l/min at 80 to 10,000 mm²/s.

Filling and service: FLMU 219

The self-priming FLMU 219 service pump fills pressure, hydraulic and lubricating oil systems during start-up or oil change. It can deliver 4 l/min to 1,500 mm²/s at 0.37 kW. Technically, it is not a separate model series; instead, it is the FLM model with integrated overflow valve. Because this combination has proven itself for this exact task, we are marketing it as a separate product. For continuous operation in the loop, we recommend the FLM 219 with integrated overflow valve. Electric gear pumps the right choice.

The FLMU 219 is a self-priming service pump for filling pressure systems, for example hydraulic and lubrication oil circuits during commissioning or oil changes.
