Which gear pump with a motor is right for your application?
The selection process is based on four questions: How much fluid needs to be pumped, how viscous is the fluid, does the flow rate need to be adjustable, and where will the pump be installed?
The compact FLM model is suitable for flow rates up to 24 l/min. The FKM and FOM models are available for flow rates ranging from 7.4 to 124 l/min; the FOM covers the upper power range from 2.2 to 18.5 kW. If the pump is to be installed inside the tank, the FAM model is used.
For high viscosities ranging from approximately 2,500 to 20,000 mm²/s, gearmotor models are used. The flow rate is individually designed based on the pump size and output speed, while the design depends on the pump size and power rating—that is, FKM or FOM. As standard, we use motor power ratings starting at 0.55 kW; lower power ratings are available as special designs. For lower power requirements, a slower-running standard motor—such as an eight-pole model—is generally sufficient. In addition, there are the slow-running LZ and LZGM series. For adjustable flow rates, the “i” model with a variable-frequency drive is available; for applications without a dynamic shaft seal, the FOM MG model with a magnetic coupling is available.
The housing and motor are mounted on the F-series pump base made of gray cast iron. FLM covers 0.12 to 1.5 kW and is available only up to and including size 3; FKM covers 0.55 to 1.5 kW and is also available for sizes 4 and 5; FOM covers 2.2 to 18.5 kW; and FAM covers 0.25 to 18.5 kW for tank installation. In addition, there are the following designations: “i” for the frequency converter, written directly after the model designation as FLMi or FOMi; “G” for the gearmotor, as the prefix G/FKM or G/FOM; “MG” for the magnetic coupling in the FOM model; and “U” for the integrated relief valve, such as FLMU or FOMU. The FLMU 219 is therefore not a separate series, but rather size 219 in the FLM model with a valve. Only LZ and LZGM fall outside this modular system: LZ without a drive and LZGM with a drive.
